The British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) is the biggest diving club in the world with thousands of members worldwide. SYSAC Diving Section is designated Branch 99 and follows BSAC's structure and guidelines.
We welcome divers of all qualifications from all agencies.
To train with the Branch you must become a member of BSAC. Some of the many advantages include 3rd party insurance, a monthly copy of DIVE magazine, and internationally recognised qualifications.
However, if you are already a qualified diver and just want to dive with us, you'll need to join our club and BSAC (which provides 3rd party insurance).
As a club we are committed to the thorough training of Student divers as well as those more experienced. We have a number of dedicated instructors who conduct both theory lessons at the Clubhouse and practical pool sessions in a nearby swimming pool.
Initial Open water dives are conducted in Lliw Reservoir or the National Diving Activity Centre before progressing to your first open water sea dives.
The Ocean Diver Course is the first rung of the BSAC Diver Training scheme. The course encompasses essential diving theory and skills. During this course you must become a member of BSAC. It is run on a Wednesday evening with a Pool and Theory Session. This lasts for approximately 8 weeks before moving into the Open Water.
SYSAC provides all the equipment for the training but encourages you to purchase your own Mask, Fins, Snorkel and Wetsuit.
We take students as young as 14 but some parental supervision is required during the sessions.
With the experienced Instructor base in SYSAC we can also run other more experienced courses. These are run in house and members can attend these courses for free. These courses are also available to non members for a nominal fee. They are run on a Wednesday night over the Winter Season.
Skill Development Courses or SDCs are short courses to improve techniques and increase knowledge and awareness. These courses are run throughout the year. Check our calendar and the SDC page of the site for dates. SDC courses are priced individually to cover costs and are open to members and non-members. Other courses are available through BSAC regional training.
